No. Each master artist teaches differently, but the retreats welcome committed painters at a range of levels. Tell us about your practice in the enquiry form and we will help assess the best fit.

Yes. Many journeys welcome spouses or partners who are not painting. Selected workshops offer a dedicated companion rate; ask us for the current arrangements for your chosen departure.

Groups are intentionally small so teaching, safari access and hosting remain personal. Exact painter and room capacity differs by departure and is confirmed in the private journey brief.

Confirmed guests receive an artist-specific materials list. Portable media are generally best for field work, but solvents, luggage limitations and reserve rules differ, so the issued list should always guide packing.

The rhythm follows the destination. A day may begin with wildlife observation or early plein-air work, followed by a demonstration, personal painting time, a midday pause and a second golden-hour session or safari. Weather and wildlife conditions may change the sequence.

Published itineraries typically include luxury accommodation, specified meals and beverages, in-country ground transport, art instruction, workshop support, hosting and listed safari experiences. Always review the specific workshop page and confirmation documents.

International flights, travel and medical insurance, personal extras, premium beverages, spa treatments and optional extensions are generally excluded. Some itineraries also exclude a required domestic flight.

Single accommodation may be available at a supplement. Capacity and the exact supplement vary by workshop, so request this when you enquire.

Where published, a workshop may offer a deposit, instalment plan or full payment. Availability is only confirmed once payment has been received and accepted under the booking terms.
