Jeremy Lipking is regarded as one of America’s premier realist artists, with a painterly fluency often compared to Sargent, Sorolla and Zorn.
In a remarkably short period, Jeremy emerged as a virtuoso of contemporary realism. His canvases carry the convincing presence of life while remaining unmistakably made of paint.
His highly sensitive eye finds nuances of value and hue that a camera flattens. He begins loosely, establishing proportion and broad colour relationships before gradually refining selected forms.
The open, breathing structure of his brushwork allows sharp passages and quiet, unresolved areas to coexist. It is this movement between precision and atmosphere that gives his work its energy.
Jeremy lives with his family in the Santa Monica Mountains outside Los Angeles and is an enrolled member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community of the Lake Superior Band of Chippewa Indians.
